SENATOR GODSWILL AKPABIO SPEAKS ON GROWING INSECURITY

Senator Godswill Akpabio in his contributions to the Motion brought on the floor of the Senate over the Urgent Need to Look into the Killings and Arson that took place in Shinkafi L.G.A of Zamfara State, enumerated the possible solutions to insecurity as a national issue.

He spoke and reminded us that the deployment of different military troops with different names like Operation Crocodile Smile, Operation python dance etc might not be the solution we need. He said,

“ No matter how we dance, no matter how we smile, we have to find a permanent solution to our security challenge in the country”

He said the question is what can we do if we have state police? He suggested that the panacea could be to set up a centralized commission to regulate the activities of the state police.

If we deploy someone from a different state to a new state entirely he doesn’t not know anything about as policeman there, he wont achieve much because he doesn’t understand the terrain.

“We cant continue to do the same thing over and over and expect a different result” he said.

He finally suggested a high powered committee of reputable members of National Assembly to sit down and proffer solutions to this growing menace for the interest of our country Nigeria.
