Nigerian Senate had a rowdy session today with tension everywhere over what they perceived is a siege on the upper chambers. They were responding to a motion by Sam Anyanwu to debate the dehumanization and debasement of the rights and privileges of Senator Dino Melaye and how he has been abused and treated like a common criminal by the police.
The Senators all spoke in condemnation of the gestapo attitude of police in arresting Dino and also sending more than 30 police men to lay siege in the hospital where he is being treated, refusing everyone including Senators access to see him on the excuse of order from above.
Senate delegation sent to to see him reported the following updates:
- He is still in intensive care of the hospital
- They were not allowed to have direct access to him
- He is having feeding challenges because he does not want to eat the food provided by the police and the hospital is also scared to feed him
- There were efforts to move him out but hospital insisted that unless someone will sign that his health is in the person's hand and not them anymore
The Senate resolved to adjourn for his sake to enable the entire Senate pay him a visit to know how he is doing.
