Senator Chukwuka Utazi, has called for impeachment of President Buhari over what they law makers called his breach and violation of the constitution by approving $496,374,470 used for the purchase of the Tucano Air Craft without approval of congress.
He made this call in today's plenary while the senate was debating the letter sent to them by Mr President to include the amount in 2018 Appropriation Bill.
The matter came up through a motion by Senator Mathew Uroghide that the President has violated Sec 80(1,2,3,4) of the constitution by not seeking approval of congress before going ahead to spend the money.
The matter generated alot of debate and controversy in the hallowed chambers, with many saying its a usual pattern for this President to violate the Constitution and also disrespect the parliament at will hence they need to stop such precedence for the sake of our nascent democracy.
It was however, resolved that the committee on Judiciary should study the situation and advice the parliament.
