Senate Minority Leader distinguished Senator Akpabio said FG should develop an action plan to tackle environmental challenges starring us in the face across all regions.
He made this submission while contributing to the motion on World Environmental Day which was presented on the floor of the Senate today by Senator rose Okoh on behalf of Senator Tinubu the chairman of the committee.
Contributing he said the Niger Delta Region is not excluded in this hazard as farmlands are destroyed through oil spill, no good water to drink and entire aquatic life of the people destroyed thereby exacerbating the issue of hunger and abject poverty in the region.
He also pointed out that the Federal road from Itu to Aba was sometime rendered impassable due to gully erosion that divided the entire road into two.
He called on the National Assembly and the executive to work together to ensure a better environment is bequeathed to the future generation.
Finally he called on God to give us the resources to tackle these issues as a nation.
