Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Oladimeji Fabiyi has taken a swipe at former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, accusing him of abandoning the stature he once held in the party to serve the interests of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
In an interview with SYMFONI Television on Monday, November 24, 2025, Fabiyi said it was embarrassing that a former two-term governor who once commanded significant influence in the party would now place himself under someone he used to tower over politically.
“Fayose was governor when Wike was council chairman. Today, you have turned yourself into an errand boy for Wike,” Fabiyi said.
He argued that the shift in dynamics was not accidental but a product of Fayose’s desperation for political relevance, suggesting that the former governor had willingly traded his independence for personal or financial benefits.
Fabiyi described the situation as a symbolic reversal of political roles within the PDP, noting that while Wike has continued to consolidate his influence nationally, Fayose has shrunk himself by submitting to what he called Wike’s political dictates.
Fabiyi further suggested that Fayose’s alignment with Wike was part of a broader pattern of inconsistency and opportunism, claiming the former governor regularly shifts alliances based on personal interests rather than party ideology.
He insisted that the episode illustrates deeper fractures within the PDP, where long-standing members and founding figures have been displaced by new power blocs backed by stronger political machinery.
