NATIONAL ASSEMBLY TODAY


In today’s plenary, The Senate passed the following Bills:
FIRST READING
i.                    CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF FORENSIC AND INVESTIGATIVE AUDITORS IN NIGERIA
ii.                  FCT PROPERTY AND CONVEYANCY BILL
iii.                AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY AND MODERNIZATION BILL
iv.                FEDERAL REFERRAL HOSPITAL
v.                  NATIONAL HEALTH COMMISSION
vi.                FCT COLLEGE OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY BILL
vii.              EXPORT PROHIBITION ACT
Also 5 Bills from House of Reps for concurrence were passed. The Bills are:
i.                    VIGILANTE GROUP OF NIGERIA
ii.                  SUBSIDIARY LEGISLATION
iii.                COURTS AND TRIBUNALS FINES AND FINANCIAL PENALTIES BILL
iv.                RADIOGRAPHERS(Registration, etc) Act (Amendment Bill)
v.                  MEDICAL RESIDENCY TRAINING BILL

On the report from Committee on Financial Crime concerning the illegal arrest and detention of Innoson CEO, Senator Chukwu Utazi confirmed that they called EFCC chairman and spoke to him and immediately Innoson CEO was released. He also confirmed that INNOSON CEO later called to thank the Senate for their intervention.
