In Today’s plenary, the
Senate deliberated the interim report from the Committee on Downstream
Petroleum on:
INVESTIGATION OF THE
LINGERING PREMIUM MOTOR SPIRIT (FUEL) CRISIS ACROSS THE COUNTRY
The report was greeted with
outrage and condemnation from the floor of the Senate. Contributing to the
debate, our distinguished Senator Oduah, OON made the following submissions:
According to her, the
report was supposed to be a very technical report that requires detailed work.
She said fuel scarcity in this nation is a reoccurring decimal which means
there is a fundamental issue bedeviling the issue that requires resolution.
She said NNPC has not
put in place a proper structure to address this reoccurring issue that has
remained with us.
She said the report
will not stand the test of time and it is an unfair and biased report that
needs to be set aside for the committee to come back a later date with a more
detailed report.
She called on the
Senate to jettison the report for the committee to go back and do a more comprehensive
and unbiased report that will address the fundamental issue of fuel scarcity in
our country.
