The Nigerian Senate after heated debates and deliberations on a Motion on Herdsmen and Farmers clashes in Taraba State, rose up with s resolution to hold a Two-Day Security Summit on January 24th and 25th, 2018 to fully thrash the issue once and for all.
This was suggested by DSP Ekweremmadu to help find lasting solutions to this incessant crisis rocking our nation. He said this was necessary to make the international community take the National Assembly serious on their debates over this lingering crisis.
Also, the following resolutions were taking concerning the Motion:
1. Senate to send high-powered delegation to Taraba to resolve the conflicts
2. Urge NEMA to deploy relief materials to the affected areas
3. Urge FG to deploy more security personnel in the affected areas
4. Urge FG to initiate a comprehensive surveillance on the border between Taraba and Adamawa
5. Suspend plenary to hold Security Summit next week Wednesday and Thursday
