Deputy Senate President Senator Ekweremmadu, presiding today at Senate Plenary, while making his concluding remarks on the motion on ":

He said the primary responsibility of Govt is to protect lives and property of their citizens. He said any Govt that abandons its responbility to protect lives has failed. This is why we have the army, navy, police etc.

He went further to say about 50,000 people have been killed in Nigeria in recent years through insurgents. He said this is condemnable considering the fact that some countries in the Carribbean Island have about 50,000 people as their total population, so if it had been those countries, the entire country would have been wiped out by now.

Her finally called the authorities to sit up and take responsibility.
