SENATOR ODUAH'S BILL ON "PROPERTY RIGHTS OF SPOUSES" PASSES FIRST READING

In today's plenary, our distinguished Senator Stella Oduah's Bill on Property Rights of Spouses passed First reading on the floor of the Upper House.

Also on the floor today, our indefatigable Senator Stella Oduah contributed in support of a motion sponsored by Senator Utazi on the need for Socio-Economic importance of Rural Roads.

The motion which had the road that transverses across two states of Anambra and Enugu                    (Uvuru-Ukpata-Adaba-Nkume-Umulokpa-Umumbo-Omor) was used as the test case for the motion to clarify and buttress the importance of rural roads.

In her contribution, distinguished Senator Oduah stated that lack of motorable of rural roads makes us to loose millions annually in Agricultural produce.

She said there is also potential loss of youths that would have become entrepreneurs but for lack of infrastructure to encourage them in local agro business and access to better market in the cities where they will earn adequate revenue for their business.

The road in question passes through many agro based communities with tremendous economic potential according to her

She went on to say that if there is sincerity of purpose in government's drive to diversify our economy into Agriculture and create alternate source of revenue and job creation for our youths, priority must be given to rural communities and their infrastructure.

She concluded by calling on the Ministry of Works to prioritize this particular road and put it back in 2018 budget while also increasing the total value allocated to it in this year's budget.
