Senator Oduah Co-Sponsors Motion on Repair and Rehabilitation of Interstate Roads

In today’s plenary, our indefatigable Senator Stella Oduah, Co-sponsored a motion on:

URGENT NEED TO REPAIR AMND REHABILITATE INTER-STATE ROADS IN NIGERIA

The motion which was unanimously supported by all the senators in the chamber had the road that traverses Kogi, Enugu and Anambra (Idah-Odolu-Nsukka-Adani-Otuocha-Onitsha Road) as a test case to buttress the point and highlight the impact of this many years of decay on our roads on the lives of our people.

Many Senators that spoke called for urgent and serious lasting solution to the crisis on our roads which has remained a topical issue year in year out at the National Assembly without the executive finding lasting solution to the situation.

The Senate resolved to:

i.                    Urge FG to ensure the rehabilitation and repair of interstate roads in Nigeria in this 2018 fiscal year

ii.                  Mandate the Committee on Works to investigate the award and execution of the Idah-Odolu-Nsukka-Adani-Otuocha-Onitsha federal road which has been in a state of total disrepair; and

iii.                Urge the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency FERMA, to as an interim measure, begin immediate repair of the bad portions of the Idah-Odolu-Nsukka –Adani- Otuocha-Onitsha federal roads to make it motorable pending when full rehabilitation works can commence
