SENATOR THEORDORE ORJI'S BILL ON ESTABLISHMENT OF ABA POLYTECHNIC PASSES SECOND READING


Former Governor of Abia State, Senator Theodore Orji(Ochendo Global) presented a lead debate on his bill on:

 "ACT TO ESTABLISH THE FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC ABA, ABIA STATE TO PROVIDE FULL TIME COURSES IN TECHNOLOGY, APPLIED SCIENCES MANAGEMENT, AND OTHER FIELDS TO MAKE PROVISION FOR THE GENERAL ADMINISTRATION OF THE POLYTECHNIC, 2018"

In his lead debate, he said the upgrade of the school is necessary to equip it with broad based capacity to offer technological education and create admission opportunities for many youths seeking such and Abia and beyond.

He said the growth and emergence of Asia is a result of Industrial, Scientific and Economic power. The Chinese working on our roads today and railways are not professors but artisans he said.

The objectives of the Bill are:

i. To offer full time courses in Technology, Applied Sciences, Commerce and Management
ii. Distribution of Research in development and adaptation of technology
iii. Incubate technology and enhance local fabrication
iv. To arrange seminars and workshops relevant to the fields.

Continuing he said, this will help provide more efficient technological hands for Africans to take over technological market in Africa.

Concluding he said Aba already has a merchantile and industrial base, hence the need for support to grow the local economy that is innovation driven.

Finally, he said there is not extra cost on the Govt as the structures are already on ground and the school is already in existence.
