The Minority leader of Nigerian Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio contributed in support of the Bill on Establishment of Federal Polytechnic Aba, to provide full time courses in technology, a bill sponsored by Senator Theordore Orji.
Contributing, he first thanked Theodore Orji for the bill while lending his support for FG to upgrade the existing Polytechnic by taking it over.
The Minority leader said, on yearly basis we have many of our youths seeking admission to higher institutions that are not enough to absorb them, a situation that is very frustrating. So education cannot be enough for our teeming and growing population dominated by youths.
He said Aba is the creative and innovative technological centre of Nigeria. So if the FG steps in, the school will improve in many areas including establishment of many faculties that will absorb the high number of our youths seeking admission.
He went on to recall how we used to buy fantastic shoes and wares made in Aba back in the days. Then you wont even know they were made in Aba he said.
Finally he said as Nigeria grows, we will be able to appreciate the innovative nature of Aba, hence he called on the senate to support and pass the bill.
