Senator Umeh spoke on the heels of Senate debate on the motion Against Kogi Govt for promulgating a law that enabled them create a vigilante group with arms as presented by Senator Dino Melaye.
Speaking he said its is unfortunate that Kogi State has been on the news for sometimes now for wrong reasons and this time about legalizing vigilante.
However, he said the issue of vigilante services has worked for some states like Anambra State. He said Anambra State vigilante was established 9 years ago through state assembly enabling law.
According to him, Anambra vigilante was structured in such a manner that the commander is a retired police man and so are many of the top ranked leaders of the agency.
He said the people of Anambra State wanted the vigilante as they have been able to curb criminality that was order of the day hitherto in the state.
So he called on the state to isolate Anambra State in the quest to investigate and outlaw the group due to the fears about their activities in Kogi State.
Finally he supported the motion which targeted Kogi State.
