Rev. John Hayab, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 northern states, has okayed the air strikes by the United States on terrorists in Sokoto State.
In an interview with Saturday Sun, Hayab downplayed fears that the US military action might exceed expectations. “We shouldn’t be afraid that the US might go overboard. After all, the terrorists have gone overboard.
“We ask that the intervention continue unabated until the terrorists are completely wiped out of our communities. Besides, the Nigeria Government officials have confirmed that the attack was a collaboration to get rid of terrorists.”
He stated that many meetings and engagements have been going on between the federal government and the US government since after the Trump tweet.
“But Nigerian citizens would be happy with any help that is towards bringing to an end to the persistent killings by bandits and terrorists.
“Our Association believes that Tinubu security emergency has started working with his public declaration of all groups carrying arms and killing innocent people in Nigeria as terrorists. And may this collaboration not be a one-off activity but should remain a continual activity till every terrorist is defeated and eliminated in Nigeria,” he suggested. (The Sun)
