In today’s plenary,
Senate considered the report of Senate Committee on INEC regarding the
screening of Nominees for Confirmation as Resident Electoral Commissioners.
The chairman Senator
Suleiman Nazif presented the report and recommended rejection of the candidate
for Zamfara State Ahmadu Bello Mahmud. While the other two candidates for Lagos
and Kebbi , Amb. Dr. Rufus O Akeju and Dr Mahmud Isah from Lagos and Kebbi
States respectively.
In further probe to
know why the candidate from Zamfara State Ahmadu Bello Mahmud was rejected, it was stated that the
candidate is not and indigene of Zamfara State, rather he is from Sokoto State .
