Senator Godswill Akpabio contributing to the motion about insecurity and killings in Benue State, said that the Senate is already fed up with the daily minute silence for the dead. He said this has become a norm as human lives is now becoming the NEXT item on the order paper. Meaning that daily motions about killings and bloodletting across Nigeria is read with minute silence to for them, only for the Senate to move to the next item on the order paper.
He said this cannot continue, hence senate should take drastic action to bring an end to this orgy of killings across the nation.
He called for a strong committee to meet the President to know what is going on.
He said, its is obvious that the police cannot solve this problem as they have repeatedly demonstrated their incapacitation.
he went on to make reference to the ease at which 6 tugs walked into the Nigerian Senate, took the mace and ran away without anyone stopping them. That is a confirmation that our safety and the safety of Nigerians has been compromised.
He suggested a Special Military Operation be sent to Benue, it could be called BENUE 2018 or something, just for the purpose to bring this to an immediate end.
Finally he called for the Senate to look at the issue in a bi-partisan way to help end the carnage across our land for the interest of everyone.
